This policy explains what information ML Advocate (mladvocate.com) collects, why, and who helps us handle it. We keep it short because we collect very little.
The short version
We collect your email if you subscribe or take the quiz, the questions you ask Ask ML Advocate, and basic analytics. We don’t sell your information, and we don’t run ads. Questions? Email hello@mladvocate.com.
1. What we collect
Your email address, if you sign up for The ML Advocate Monthly or enter it at the end of the AI-ML Fit Quiz. We use it to send you the newsletter and, for the quiz, the guide you asked for.
Questions you ask Ask ML Advocate, the site’s assistant. We save the text of each question and when it was asked, so we can see what readers want to know. Please don’t include personal information in your questions.
Emails you send us at hello@mladvocate.com, including any headlines or claims you send us to check.
Basic usage information, such as the pages you visit, how you found the site, your browser and device type, and your approximate location based on your IP address. This comes from Google Analytics and Jetpack Stats.
2. Services that help run the site
These companies process information on our behalf. Each has its own privacy policy.
Kit (formerly ConvertKit) stores newsletter and quiz email addresses and sends the newsletter.
Google Analytics, added through the MonsterInsights plugin, and Jetpack Stats from Automattic measure site traffic.
Ask ML Advocate runs on Vercel. To answer a question, it sends the question text to OpenAI (to turn it into a searchable form), Pinecone (to find matching posts), and Anthropic (whose Claude model writes the answer). Questions are saved in a Google Sheet.
Bluehost hosts the site, and Kit sends quiz guides. Kit receives only your email address. Like most web hosts, these keep standard server and security logs.
Google Fonts and the Jetpack image service deliver fonts and images, so they receive your IP address when a page loads.
3. Cookies
Google Analytics and Jetpack Stats use cookies or similar technology to count visits. The site doesn’t use advertising cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and Google offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics.
4. How long we keep it
We keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. We keep saved questions for as long as they help us decide what to write, and we’ll delete them sooner if you ask. Analytics data is kept according to the retention settings in Google Analytics.
5. Your choices and rights
Every newsletter email has an unsubscribe link.
You can ask us what information we have about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing hello@mladvocate.com. We’ll respond within 30 days.
If you live in California, the EU, the UK, or another place with privacy laws, you may have additional rights under those laws. We’ll honor them. We don’t sell or share personal information for advertising.
6. Children
ML Advocate is written for adults and isn’t directed at children under 13. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
7. Changes
If we change how we handle information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
